Tom was born in Truro, Cornwall. He started formal tuition at the age of seven with the late Elizabeth Fryer and is currently studying under Melvyn Cooper.

He has wide experience as an accompanist and répétiteur for a variety of musical groups, predominantly vocal, and has developed numerous professional relationships with choirs, choral and operatic soceities and particularly solo singers.

A trained mathematician, as an undergraduate at Warwick Tom became heavily involved in the student chamber choir and opera society, for the latter founding the WSO Sinfonietta and conducting The Marriage of Figaro in 2005. As a singer himself, he is also a member the New London Chamber Choir.

Now effectively self-employed as a freelance musician, Tom teaches piano and gets involved in many varied projects, such as organising charity concerts and recording hitherto undiscovered works. Recently he has been involved in the formation of the early music ensemble, Warwick Baroque.
